National Work

Focus on Undernutrition has represented dietitians on national working parties to develop guidelines, training and other resources. These include:

National Representation

NICE nutritional support in adults topic expert group
- Developing national standards on nutritional support in adults
National Prescribing Centre
- Developing guidance for the appropriate prescribing of nutritional supplements in adults
Department of Health’s training and education subgroup for the Improving Nutritional Care group
- Supporting the development of National Occupational Standards for nutrition training, for People First, Skills for Care and Skills for Health
Core Learning Group
- Developing e-learning ‘Nutrition and Hydration in Health and Social Care’ which is now part of Skills for Health

As part of the national working parities Focus on Undernutrition has worked alongside National Institue for Health and Clinical Excellence (NICE), National Patient Safety Agency (NPSA), Commission for Social Care Inspection (CSCI), Food Standard’s Agency (FSA), British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN), Nutrition Advisory Group for the Elderly (NAGE), British Dietetic Association (BDA), National Association for Care Caterers (NACC), Royal College of Nursing (RCN), national care home companies, national nutrition companies.

Focus on Undernutrition has been invited to present at over 25 national conferences, including British Association for Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition (BAPEN), British Dietetic Association (BDA), Royal College of Nursing, Westminster Parliamentary Forum, Royal Society for the Promotion of Health (RSPH).
